Men don’t cry, right? Even when they grieve? After the death of his wife Mary Helen, Eric Wright had trouble stemming the flow of tears.
This is a story about love and loss; a story about how Eric endeavored to reconstruct a life without Mary Helen. It is about dealing with grief as a man, although the applications apply to both men and women. The book presents a window into his distress during the first year. It is not a “how-to” manual describing how to grieve. Instead, it is a memoir describing Eric’s actual reactions at different stages through the first year of his loss, how he tried to alleviate his sorrow, and how he found comfort along the way.
Are you going through grief and wonder if your reactions are unique? Or, are you trying to figure out how to help someone cope with the loss of a loved one? In this transparent memoir of his first year alone, the author describes his own journey through heartache to construct a new life of meaning and purpose without the love of his life by his side.
Join him as he recounts his struggles to cope with her loss; and draw insights into your own loss or how to help those who are grieving.
“I found myself crying, laughing and then crying again. . . Eric’s humble yet skilled writing style welcomes the reader into both his heart and his life as he intimately peels back and reveals the heavy and daily burden of his sorrow. Yet, at the same time, we catch a glimpse of the profound hope that God’s Word and Eric’s faith produce in his own heart as he perseveres in his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Kathie Renaud, GriefShare Facilitator

“Eric is a pastor, missionary, counselor, a special friend of our family of churches. He has written a very honest and transparent look into the anguish of one man’s season of grief. I recommend it to those grieving or those hoping to support someone in the midst of grief.”
